Alan Cheuse is the author of three novels, including The Grandmothers Club and The Light Possessed, three collections of short stories, a memoir (Fall Out of Heaven), and a collection of essays (Listening to the Page: Adventures in Reading and Writing). New short fiction of his has recently appeared in Ploughshares, The Antioch Review, New Letters, Prairie Schooner, and The Southern Review. He is the editor of the recently published anthology Seeing Ourselves: Great Stories of Americas Past and co-editor of Writing Workshop in a Book: The Squaw Valley Community of Writers on the Art of Fiction. His own latest work of fiction is a pair of novellas published under the title The Fires. Cheuse serves as book commentator for NPRs evening news-magazine All Things Considered and as a member of the writing faculty at George Mason University. His website is www.alancheuse.com.
