Virginia Pierrepont is a contemporary portrait and landscape painter who received an MFA Degree in Contemporary Art from Johnson State College in spring 2014, and graduated Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in painting and printmaking in 1981.
Her second solo show, Outside Inside; Concepts of Transformation, focuses on Human Spirit illuminated within a landscape; where the landscape becomes the organ. Her paintings explore an almost “Head On Collision” of real events- interfacing with the unknown or suspected forces, a tension between familiar and almost absurd. “I am interested in exploring the subconscious levels of emerging memories by actively painting, layering, scraping and erasing; the unforeseen marks left behind, often blurred and unclear, become metaphors of the struggles to maintain order in life’s chaos.
Virginia maintains a contemporary painting and portrait studio in Brooklyn, New York. www.virginialakecrawford.com
Outside Inside; Concepts of Transformation is on view in the Red Mill Gallery through February 12th, 2015.
