Corban Walker is known for his subtle use of industrial materials—namely glass, steel, LED lights, Plexiglas, and vinyl—and integration of these materials into a pre-existing architectural space. Walker’s work sets out to reevaluate an accepted perception of scale. At four feet tall, the artist has a unique perspective of the world, and work attempts to recalibrate the viewer’s line of vision. In presenting new ways to perceive and understand scale he, in turn, offers a new perspective on the ways in which we articulate space.
Walker has mounted several solo exhibitions worldwide over the last twenty five years. Walker represented Ireland at the 54 th Venice International Art Biennale in 2011. He has won numerous awards and residencies including the Pollock Krasner Award and Atelier Calder residency at Saché, France in 2015.
