Visiting Artist: Kim Jones

Kim Jones was born in San Bernardino, CA, and his work grew out of the Southern California performance art scene of the 1970s.  Jones' work incorporates performance, sculpture, drawing, and painting. He became known early on for his performance persona, "Mudman." Jones' work has been exhibited widely in the US and internationally and has been included in Under the Big Black Sun: California Art In the Age of Pluralism, 1974-81 (The Museum of Contemporary Art, LA), Abject Expressionism (PMCA, Pasadena, CA), 17th Biennial of Sydney: The Beauty of Distance (Sydney, Australia), Compass In Hand (MoMA, NYC), The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860-1989 (The Guggenheim, NYC), among others. His work is included in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art (NYC), Whitney Museum of American Art (NYC), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), The Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), and others.
