Visiting Writer: Patrick Phillips

Patrick Phillips' most recent collection of poems, Elegy for a Broken Machine, was a finalist for the National Book Award. He is also the author of Boy and Chattahoochee, which won the 2005 Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and translator of When We Leave Each Other: Selected Poems of Henrik Nordbrandt. A past NEA and Guggenheim fellow, Phillips’ first nonfiction book is Blood at the Root: A Racial Cleansing in America, published by W. W. Norton in 2016. He lives in Brooklyn and teaches at Drew University.
