Visiting Artist: Richard Rezac

Richard Rezac (b. 1952, Lincoln, NE) received a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, Oregon in 1974 and an MFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. He is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including the Robert and Happy Doran Artist in Residency Fellowship, Yale University Art Gallery (2010), Rome Prize Fellowship, American Academy in Rome (2006), Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant Award (2004), Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award (1993), and John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship (1989). His work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Marc Foxx, Los Angeles (2015), Isabella Bortolozzi Galerie, Berlin (2015), Rhona Hoffman Gallery, Chicago (2014), and James Harris Gallery, Seattle (2013). In 2016, his work was included in Dianna Frid and Richard Rezac: Split Complementary, a two person exhibition at DePaul Art Museum, Chicago, curated by Matthew Girson. Rezac’s work is held in the public collections of Art Institute of Chicago, Maramotti Collection, Reggio Emilia, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and Yale University Art Gallery, among others. Since 1985, Rezac has been an Adjunct Full Professor of Sculpture, Drawing, and Graduate Advising at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL. He lives and works in Chicago.
