Vermont Studio Center is pleased to announce the following February 15 award winners:

Brown Foundation
One fellowship award for an artist or writer living in Texas.
• Reisch, Kit, Sculptor, TX

The Dedalus Foundation Awards
Six fellowships awarded annually for painters whose work expresses an extension of the modernist tradition as embodied by the work of Robert Motherwell.  (For 2009, there are currently three confirmed award acceptances, one pending, and two fellowships still to be awarded at the 6/15/09 fellowship deadline.)

The Kay Evans Award
Created in honor of Kay Evans by her friends and family, one merit-based fellowship award open to all poets.
• Jenny George, Poet, New Mexico  

The Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts Awards
One merit-based fellowship award for a painter of outstanding talent, sponsored by Sam and Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts.
• Jaclyn Conley, Painter, NY

Learning Arts and Culture Program
Fellowship awards for teaching artists and writers in Lamoille County, VT, with funding from the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Pavlis Awards        
Three fellowship awards for African-American artists and writers, with preference given to students and recent graduates of Spelman College, Fisk University, and Morehouse College.

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Awards
For visual artists of outstanding talent, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation/ VSC Fellowship Program offers three 4-week residency awards for U.S.-based artists and one 8-week residency award for an international artist.

The Wheels for Wheels Awards  
Fellowship award for an artist or writer who uses a wheelchair and/or has a spinal cord injury.

The Zoland Poetry Awards
Two new fellowship awards open to writers of original English-language poetry and poetry translators, offered in conjunction with Zoland Poetry.
• Joshua Edwards, Translator, Shanghai, China 
• Roxane Johnson, Poet, CA

The Zell Award/ University of Michigan MFA Program
One fellowship award for a University of Michigan MFA Candidate in Poetry between his/her first and second year.

Merit-based 4-week fellowship awards, open to all artists and writers based on the work submitted in portfolio or manuscript.
