"It is with profound and deep gratitude that I begin to put into words the magnitude of my appreciation for my experience at Vermont Studio Center.By all accounts, this has been an incredible month that has changed my outlook and trajectory from this point forward. I return home with a new tools, new interests, new relationships, a broader perspective, and a higher hope and confidence at the same time." –Makalani Bandele (poetry), Cave Canem Fellow

The VSC Fellowship Program is an integral part of our mission, supporting residency fees for hundreds of talented artists and writers at VSC each year. Many of these fellows would not otherwise be able to attend without a fellowship to cover the $3,950 cost of a four-week residency.

Vermont Studio Center is committed to providing an inclusive international community of artists and writers in an accessible environment. To this end, we enjoy a rich history of welcoming artists from underserved segments of the arts community through designated fellowships, including awards for artists and writers of color (Cave Canem Foundation, Callaloo, Canto Mundo, Civil Society Institute, Educational Foundation of America, Harpo Foundation, Kundiman); low-income artists (Joan Mitchell Foundation, Hellen Plummer Foundation), artists with disabilities (Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Christopher Reeve Foundation, Two West Foundation), international artists (Henry Luce Foundation, Reed Foundation, Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, Rubin Foundation); artists who have been displaced by natural disasters (Pollock-Krasner Foundation, VSC's Displaced Artists Fund); parent-artists who have young children (Sustainable Arts Foundation); and women artists and writers (Rona Jaffe Foundation, Voices Rising Fellowship, Zeta Orionis Fellowship).

The vitality, inclusiveness, and creative excellence of VSC depends on the continued growth of our fellowships program. A monthly gift to the VSC Fellowship Fund is one of the most effective ways to support VSC's ongoing commitment to building a diverse and vibrant creative community that is home to as many voices and visions as possible. Over time, even small gifts make a big difference. Become a monthly sustainer of the VSC Fellowship Fund for as little as $3/month to help make VSC residencies available to as many artists and writers as possible.
