All visual artists are welcome to request access to VSC’s Sculpture Shop and its equipment; to obtain approval, the artist must meet the Shop Manager in person to review the terms and sign off on the VSC sculpture equipment and safety agreement form, which will be provided on-site. The agreement includes shop safety rules, tool safety and requirements, and a list of available tools and equipment that require previous specific training. Please note: Prior training is required for use of VSC equipment; the Shop Manager cannot provide introductory equipment training to VSC artists-in-residence.
The Firehouse communal area holds two electric kilns:
- 24" diameter x 24" deep for low fire work
- 18" diameter x 22" deep capable of cone 6
The shop offers some materials for resale, including:
- Molding plaster - 50 lb. bags
- Welding consumables: Gas for oxy/acet. and electric welding, filler rod

Please email email@example.com in advance if you will need large quantities.
Due to the open nature of the shop we can not accommodate polyester resin or the use of other toxic materials. Some covered space is available outdoors for the use of materials that produce harsh fumes.
