Brian Bress (b. 1975 in Norfolk, Virginia) received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from UCLA, a BFA in Film, Animation, and Video from Rhode Island School of Design, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. His work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions, including Cherry & Martin in Los Angeles, Baltimore Museum of Art, Chrysler Museum of Art, Los Angeles Nomadic Division, and the Museo d’arte contemporanea Roma in Italy, among many others. Bress's work was also the subject of a touring ten year retrospective exhibition at Utah Museum of Fine Arts which opened in September 2015. The show then traveled to the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver in January 2016 and to the Orange County Museum of Art in August 2016. Brian Bress’s work is featured in the collections of the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida, Portland Museum of Art in Oregon, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Brian Bress currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
