C. S. Giscombe is the author of the poetry collection Prairie Style, Giscome Road, Here, among others, and his linked essays, concerning Canada, race, and family, is Into and Out of Dislocation. His work has received the 2010 Stephen Henderson Award, an American Book Award (Prairie Style) and the Carl Sandburg Prize (Giscome Road). “Ohio Railroads” - a poem in essay form - was published in 2014 and Border Towns (essays on poetry, color, nature, television, etc.) appeared in 2016. His forthcoming book, Similarly, is a volume of collected and new poetry. He is from southwest Ohio, but has lived and worked in northern British Columbia, central Pennsylvania, upstate New York, and downstate Illinois. He now teaches at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a long-distance cyclist.
