John O’Connor (b. 1972, Westfield, MA) received a BA from Westfield State College in Massachusetts and an MFA and Master’s in Theory, Criticism, and History of Art at Pratt Institute. Recent solo exhibitions of the artist’s work include Verbolect at The Boiler in Brooklyn; Thin, Dark Crash (how I dread that blue jay) at Pierogi Gallery in New York; and C’OD(e)R at Fleisher Ollman Gallery in Philadephia. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at Local Project, Honey Ramka Gallery, Regina Rex, and Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, all in New York, as well as at the Bascom Arts Center in Highlands, North Carolina; New Jersey City University Art Gallery in Jersey City; and Ms Barbers in Los Angeles, California. O’Connor’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Artnet News, ArtCritical, Artforum, the Huffington Post, and Art in America, among many others. His work is featured in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New Museum of Contemporary Art, Asheville Museum of Art, the City Museum of Orlando, and the Weatherspoon Art Museum, among others.
