Jorge Macchi (1963, Buenos Aires, Argentina) studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions through the Americas and Europe. Recent solo exhibitions include Mikrokosmos, Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Zurich; Threshold, Alexander and Bonin, New York; Desenhos, Art Museum of Deinze, Deinze, Belgium; and Prestidigitador at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), Mexico City. Recent group exhibitions include The Arcades: Contemporary Art and Walter Benjamin at The Jewish Museum, New York; Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible at The Met Breuer, New York; and Dark Mirror: Art from Latin America since 1968, at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Germany. In 2011, Macchi’s work was included in the 11th Biennale de Lyon and the 12th Istanbul Biennial. Jorge Macchi is the recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship in Italy, and has been an artist in residence at ArtPace, San Antonio. Jorge Macchi is currently represented by Alexander and Bonin in New York; Galerie Peter Kilchmann in Zurich, Galería Ruth Benzacar in Buenos Aires, Galleria Continua in Italy, and Galeria Luisa Strina in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The artist currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.
