Maren Hassinger (b. 1947, Los Angeles) received her BFA in Sculpture from Bennington College in Vermont, and her MFA from UCLA. She has mounted many solo exhibitions and participated in more than 120 group shows, at venues including the Spelman College Museum of Art, Reginald Ingraham Gallery in Los Angeles, Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, and Susan Inglett Gallery in New York. Her work is included in the collections of the Hammer Museum, Portland Museum of Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Williams College Art Museum, AT&T, Pittsburgh Airport, among many other public and private institutions. Hassinger is the recipient of grants from the Gottlieb Foundation, Joan Mitchell Foundation, Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, and has been the Director of the Rinehart School of Sculpture at Maryland Institute College of Art since 1997.
