Michelle Lopez (b. 1970) received a BA in Literature and Art History from Barnard College and Columbia University, and an MFA in Painting and Sculpture from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Recent solo exhibitions include House of Cards at Simon Preston, New York; Invisible Object at Alt in Istanbul; Chandelier at Galerie Christophe Gaillard in Paris; and Angels, Flags, Bangs at Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Recent group exhibitions featuring the artist’s work have been held at the Museum of Contemporary Art & Design in Manila, Phillipines; the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University; Klaus Von Nichtssagend Gallery in New York; and the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, Florida. Her work has been reviewed in ArtNexus, Artsy, The New York Times, Whitewall, Blouin Artinfo, The Art Newspaper, and Artforum, among many others. Lopez is currently an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Department of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania.
