Mildred Beltre (b. 1969, New York City) studied art and anthropology at Carleton College, and received an MFA from the University of Iowa. Recent solo exhibitions include The Changing Same at Amherst College; Dream Work at Burlington City Arts Center in Vermont, New Prints and Drawings at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and Since the Beginning of Resistance at Five Myles Gallery in Brooklyn. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at Morgan Lehman, BRIC Arts, the International Print Center, and Smack Mellon, all in New York City, as well as Santa Fe Art Institute and the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY, among others. Beltre’s work is featured in the collections of the Brooklyn Art Museum, Walker Art Center, University of Delaware, Johnson & Johnson Corporation, and the Progressive Art Collection. The artist is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Vermont, and is based in Brooklyn, New York.
