Peter Williams received a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art. His work is featured in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, where his work was included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial exhibition. Williams’ work was also featured in the group exhibition Looking Forward, Looking Black, which was organized by the Weatherspoon Art Gallery at the University of North Carolina, and traveled to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona; The Yager Museum in Oneonta, New York; Georgia State University School of Art and Design in Atlanta; and the Aidekman Arts Center at Tufts University in Boston. He is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant, a Ford Fellowship, and a McKnight Foundation Fellowship, among others. Peter Williams lives and works in Delaware, where he is a Professor at the University of Delaware.
