cAMPUS Buildings

The Red Mill
The VSC campus center contains the dining room, residents' lounge, galleries, and
administrative offices.

VSC Office
The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays. It is located on
the second floor of the Red Mill. The phone number is 802-635-2727.

Office printers and computers are not available for resident use. Computers and photocopiers are available at Johnson Public Library and the residents’ lounge.

These galleries host exhibits by staff, trustees, community, and international artists whose full fellowship includes an exhibition component.

The Resident Gallery is an informal area in the lounge adjoining the dining room. The VSC staff coordinates ongoing exhibits of work by current residents. You are welcome and encouraged to show your work. To make arrangements, speak with a staff member during your residency.

Lectures, readings, and slide talks are held in this building from April-November. Please arrive on time for these events—a quiet entry into this historic building can be difficult. Four resident slide talks and three resident readings are scheduled each month. The hall is equipped with an Assisted Listening System. Please see the VSC staff member running the event for assistance.

VSC’s small libraries are located in the Red Mill Lounge and in the Mason House Conference room. They include a variety of art and contemporary literature books. Since they are not lending libraries, we ask that books be used on site, and not taken to studios or residences. The Johnson Public Library and Northern Vermont University's Library Learning Center are local lending libraries (see pages 13 and 16).

The small red meditation building (on the lawn next to the Schultz Sculpture Studio) is open 24 hours each day for all forms of contemplative practice. Group meditation is scheduled every morning from 7:00 to 7:30am for any who wish to participate.

The YOGA*VSC studio is located one block away and offers daily yoga classes and workshops at a reduced rate for VSC residents. Beginning to advanced students are welcome. Email for more information.
