Current News from Vermont Studio Center

Dear Friends of Vermont Studio Center,

We’d like to share a brief update on recent changes here at VSC.

Over the past year, the VSC Board of Trustees and President Gary Clark have discussed the future leadership of the Studio Center. A two-year strategic planning process suggested the need for an assessment of the organizational structure of VSC. The board and Gary mutually agreed that the time is right for a proactive initiative to reshape VSC for the future. We are looking for an Interim Executive Director to manage, supervise, and coordinate all departments while the Board of Trustees undertakes a search for a permanent executive hire. The Interim Executive Director will report to the Board of Trustees.

In his new role as President Emeritus, Gary will take a year-long sabbatical, beginning immediately. We extend our sincere gratitude to Gary for his deep commitment to VSC and for his stewardship through the challenges we have faced collectively as we coaxed VSC through the founder phase to an inflection point that is the catalyst for change. Gary is a wonderful ambassador for VSC, and we look forward to working in concert with the next generation of leadership to assure a sustainable future for VSC.

Vermont Studio Center celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. As we envision the future, we remain committed to providing opportunities for artists and writers to create and connect in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. On behalf of everyone at Vermont Studio Center, thank you for your generous support in making these opportunities possible. We are grateful for your continued faith in our work.

Sincerely,

Mary Louise Pierson, Chair
Barbara Marks and Sarah Lutz, Co Vice-Chairs
On behalf of Vermont Studio Center Board of Trustees
